ATA Karate For Kids

Tomorrow's Leaders Made Here...

Classes are structured for Tiny Tigers (typically ages 2-6), Karate for Kids (typically ages 6 - 12), teens, and adults.  Classes are typically grouped as beginner, intermediate, advanced, and black belt students.  A typical class includes elements of physical conditioning, taekwondo material, moral and mental life-skills, and self defense.

Programs vary school to school but the most common are basic, black belt club, leadership, and master's club.  Contact the local school to see which Songahm Taekwondo instruction programs they offer.

Additional classes, typically taught in several of these programs, introduce weapons handling to enhance coordination, ATA Xtreme performance martial arts to develop originality and athletic skill, and advanced self defense, as is age appropriate.

Key Benefits

  • The mental aspects of taekwondo lead to better study and work habits, better social skills and are even shown to be an effective treatment for ADHD and other childhood "disorders".
  • The physical aspects of taekwondo lead to improved health and fitness, a sense of well-being, and improved self-esteem through real accomplishments.
  • The balance of mental and physical training leads to a balanced personal development.  The result is a person with the social skills and confidence to avoid a fight and the physical ability to defend themselves and their families.
  • The family-oriented nature of the ATA schools develops common interests and respect between family members.  It is often said that "the family that kicks together sticks together".
